An analysis: The irrelevance of analysis.

Recently, I “volunteered” to do a career planning session. First, this lady and I had a lovely chat, and then, I was given a questionnaire about myself, to be filled out by five family members, friends and colleagues.
The results of this me-analysis were… interesting.
First of all, how relevant can this poll be? Family members, friends and colleagues (also known as FFC) only know you in a specific situation or setting. Does my brother exactly know how I react in a stress-situation, such as a 06.00 PM deadline on a Monday morning? And although a colleague is quite sure that I am un gentiluomo majestuoso, well, I have to admit, my friends have already noticed that other - less nicer - version of me. And then, what’s in a word? “taking initiative” or “assertive” sure is a quality I display a lot, but when it comes to Women, an oyster takes more initiative… Further, mothers tend to know all about their offspring, I know, but in this case… I doubt it. Or, my friends must be confused. Or I am a schizophrenic.
In short, it was not that overall positive – what did I expect anyway. In fact, a cruel negative-linear link could be drawn between “FFC” and the “superb qualities of djr”: distant colleagues think higher of me then the people close to me…
I DEFINITELY need to pick new parents, and other friends. Hypocrites would be better.

Anyhow, the sessions are going well, I hope it will yield something…
